A Note from Our President

On August 1, 2023 I, along with my fellow Executive Board Officers, were sworn in to faithfully execute our duties as officers of the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women (GFDW) for 2023-2025.

As I have talked with the officers in the ensuing days, the overriding theme is that we pledge to be a hard-working group of officers that serve our Board of Directors and our Georgia Federation Chapters according to our bylaws to the very best of our abilities.

After being elected President of GFDW, some of you heard me quote a great female educator when I said, “I realize I AM DRINKING FROM A WELL I DID NOT DIG.”  There are so many great women who have served before me that have given of their time, talents, and money to this organization. They worked to support and help elect democratic women (and men who support women) for the betterment of our State and Nation.

TO THE WOMEN WHO HAVE COME BEFORE ME, I SALUTE YOU!

I need and value your advice and counsel these next two years.

I want to thank our Chapter Presidents and their officers and members for representing the organization across this state. I look forward to attending as many of your events and activities as possible. I look forward to statewide events where we can meet and get to know each other as we work to support and elect women in Georgia.

YOU ARE THE BACKBONE OF GFDW.

I look forward to working with the other officers, the Board of Directors, and especially our Chapters as we set our goals and action items, establish our standing committees, improve communication, and work to further the mission of the Democratic Party of Georgia and its County Committees throughout Georgia as they work to qualify and elect democratic candidates for state and local office. We will also work to fulfill our duties to the National Federation of Democratic Women, of which we are members, to further the advancement of women in our state, the nation, and to RE-ELECT PRESIDENT BIDEN AND VICE-PRESIDENT HARRIS IN 2024.

I look forward to the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women becoming a stronger beacon in our state for standing up to the opposition and for being united as we voice our Democratic Values.  These values include justice for all our citizens, fair elections, a strong public school system, and quality health care for all -- especially maternal and child health.

OUR CORE MISSION -- WORKING TO ELECT DEMOCRATIC WOMEN TO OFFICE -- WILL ENSURE THAT WE ARE ADVANCING WOMEN’S RIGHTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE.

ELECTING DEMOCRATS WILL BE PARAMOUNT AS WE CONTINUE OUR FIGHT FOR WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, EQUAL PAY, AND FAIR TREATMENT IN THE WORKPLACE!

Thanks to everyone for your vote and support of me and this organization. I look forward to our work and to seeing you in the coming days and months. Please feel free to contact me as we go forward.
